Series: Ms.Marvel
Created By: Bisha K. Ali
Release: 2022
Where to Watch: Disney +
Today is the LAST day of Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month and we are ending the 2023 APAHM Project with Marvel's Ms. Marvel with Dr. Kelly Jeu, M.D.! Kelly is my older sister and the first supporter of the APAHM Project. Over the years, she has served as my proof-reader and currently holds the record for most frequent guest! Kelly is a pediatrician and enjoys playing Pokémon Go, getting boba, and exploring her city.
Ms. Marvel currently has low reviews online but don't let those numbers fool you. Upon its release, many people purposely gave the series a low rating due to many reasons, but one of them being racial or discriminatory ideas towards Ms. Marvel's Pakistani roots. Which gives all the more reason to have shows like Ms. Marvel in order to normalize diverse stories. Watch our interview as we discuss how we first heard of Ms. Marvel, mother-daughter relationships, and how refreshing Iman Vellani is as this titular character!
